Ten Zimbabwean Players Earn Places in Munich as FC Bayern Youth Cup National Final Concludes in Bulawayo

Under-16 talent from across the country competed at White City Stadium; selected squad will represent Zimbabwe at the FC Bayern Youth Cup, October 15–17

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe – Ten young footballers have earned places in the Zimbabwe select squad for next month’s FC Bayern Youth Cup in Munich following the conclusion of the Zimbabwe National Final today at White City Stadium in Bulawayo.

The under-16 event, sanctioned by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and exclusively operated by FC Bayern Munich and Football.Enterprises Inc., brought together promising players from across Zimbabwe for a full day of matches and assessment. The ten selected players will travel to FC Bayern Munich’s headquarters in Munich for the FC Bayern Youth Cup, held October 15–17, 2026, where they will train, compete and be measured against young talent from around the world.

The players selected are:

  • Nkosiphile Moyo (Flame Stars)
  • Sibusiso Nyoni (Zebra Revolution)
  • Thabiso Dube (Zebra Revolution)
  • Muvumbi Nenyasha (Bulawayo City)
  • Mzingaye Sibanda (Bulawayo City)
  • Era Mangore (Young Flying Stars)
  • Tafara Marara (Elite)
  • Blessed Sibanda (Bulawayo Chiefs)
  • Brendon Tshabangu (Talen Vision)
  • Tinotenda Chokuda (Talen Vision)

Selection was carried out by a panel of local coaches, including Johannes Ngodzo, Chipo Tsodzo and Mkhokheli Dube, who assessed players throughout the day. Speaking after the final, Dube called the tournament a significant milestone for Zimbabwean youth football, while Ngodzo pointed to the range of talent that had travelled to Bulawayo from every part of the country. Tsodzo described the event as a welcome development for the players involved.

Bulawayo has long been regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most productive football cities, and the National Final added another chapter to that record by placing the city on the international stage. The event was closed to the public.

“Today belonged to the players, but it was made possible by a great many people, and I want to thank every one of them. The Zimbabwe Football Association sanctioned this event and supported it from the outset. FC Bayern Munich brought their standards, their staff and their belief that talent in Zimbabwe deserves the same door as talent anywhere else. The Chronicle and our colleagues across the Zimbabwean media told the story properly and made sure families and young players across the country knew this opportunity existed.

“I also want to thank the local coaches who gave up their weekend to watch, assess and select with real care; the referees who kept the day fair and moving; the volunteers who ran the gates, the water, the kit and the hundred things nobody notices when they are done well; and the local vendors and suppliers in Bulawayo who kept everyone fed, safe and on schedule.

“Our Zimbabwe Director, Wilbert Sibanda, deserves particular credit. He built the relationships, handled the logistics and carried this event on his shoulders this week. The event ran the way it did because of him and advance work with FC Bayern’s staff, Football.Enterprises National Academy Director Shaun Docking and others behind the scenes.”

“Ten young Zimbabweans now have a plane ticket to Munich that they earned on merit. That is what we set out to do, and we intend to keep building on it.”
